A shift in culture and awareness to portrait photography has changed with the increase of access to cameras and viewing accessibility. There is a lot of pressure put on teenage girls to look pretty, sexy, and show it all on Instagram or in snap chat. Capturing a beautiful photo is still relevant, so in this series of photos I am asking to see more than just a pretty face.
I am asking to look past the pretty, the perfect smile, the sexy pose, the flirty hair flip, and see beyond all of this and witness the triangles, the movement of a body as a figure in space, and to draw the eye to the environment and experience the innocence of a young woman.
In the process of taking these photos I learned so much about myself as a mom and how protective I feel about my beautiful daughter.
